Detailed Definition

Priority:   To show individual student improvement in reading, writing, and math in all subject areas

Indicators:   Percent of student absences by month from Discovery database

Type of Report:  Line graph – Overall student attendance by District
   Line graph – Overall student attendance by Building
Report frequency:  Quarterly – at District level

Responsible for metric:  School secretaries enter absence data daily
Technology Department to build data cube and run reports monthly
Distribution:  Cabinet, Principals and Board of Education

When:  One week after end of month


Determination of population for calculation:
  • Students will be determined as actively enrolled in District.  
  • Building will be determined based on Location on Discovery System.

Determination of used leave:
  • Used codes on Discovery attendance screen.  
EX – excused
NH – nurse sent home
NX – not excused
OS – out of school suspension
PH – physician
TA – tardy absent

Determination of % attendance rate:
  • Utilize calculated % attendance from Discovery monthly attendance report.

Comparatives:  None

Trending:  Monthly:  current year and prior year shown
