recycle If you walk the halls of Washington Junior High School, you will see some large recycling bins in various places.  Current RIHS Student Amy Miers is striving for the Thoms Above and Beyond Scholarship.  This $5000 scholarship is available to Rocky Students their junior year. Once approved, the applicants are asked to develop and carry out a community service project.

As a former WJHS student, Amy wanted to start a recycling program at Washington.  She became interested in recycling through her Global Biology class at Rocky.  With the help of WJHS Science Teacher Karen Nyman, RIHS Science Teacher Nancy Wolber, and Midland Davis, this project has become a reality.  It is called "Warriors Tackle Recycling.”

Dee AndersonThis week was full of W.I.T. nominations:

Steve South, Horace Mann, was nominated for a W.I.T. for being one of the most dedicated employees in the district. “He is always doing something for someone. This year he took vacation days to bring in his farm animals for the students to see and enjoy. He also took materials home and cut out individual white boards for the primary students and even did enough so that the students in one class could have them at home also.” Way to W.I.T.!
