Hunger Drive – Collection continues in period 5 or 10 cans towards a $5 Dance ticket at lunch.
Hey students, do you want to help create a haunted hallway for the dance on Friday? If you are responsible and want to help, please see Mr. Humphreys in room 306.
Lights Camera Action will meet all week 2:30-4:00
Cheerleading tryouts will be Thursday, October 28 beginning at 3:00.
Picture retakes are today, October 28th.
8th grade Boy’s Basketball tryouts are today, October 28 from 5-6:30 and Friday, October 29 right after school.
ADVISORY READING CHALLENGE FOR SECOND QUARTER Your goal for 2nd quarter is to reach 6 AR points by 3:00pm on December 14. Can you beat Mrs. Nelson’s Advisory? Currently, Mr Verlinden’s Advisory is in 1st place and Mrs. Melody’s is in 2nd. Let’s keep reading!
Dance tickets will be sold during lunch Thursday and Friday. TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. Eligibility is no OSS, no more than 1 TEC, detentions served, library fines cleared. Students with all A’s and B’s 1st quarter will get in free and other grades will play $5 or 10 cans of food for Hunger Drive. Even if you get in free you need to get your ticket Thursday or Friday during lunch.
Attention Students: Something new has been added to the Halloween dance this year. Hot dogs and nachos will be available for purchase. You will need to bring a little extra money if you plan to purchase this food at the dance. There will also be some free snacks and drinks donated by the PTA.
Attention Students, Parents, & Staff: There will be a fall clean-up day in the Washington yard on Saturday, November 13. It will run from 9:00 A.M. to 12 noon. Leaves will be raked, bushes trimmed, perennial flowers transplanted, and branches picked up. Lunch will be provided afterwards. Everyone is asked to bring your own rake, shovel/spade, and lawn tools/equipment. In case of rain, it will be held on the following Saturday, November 20. Please come and help make Washington look good to the community!
Students participating in an after school activity, sport and or club, must be in school all day in order to participate. Students missing any part of the day must have a medical excuse or be approved by an administrator in order to participate that day.
The next SECME meeting is Tuesday, November 2nd. Come learn about Newton’s first law of motion and create an “Egg-Citing” Crash Dummy.
Friday, October 29:
Halloween Dance from 7-9 P.M. Students are encouraged to wear costumes and face paint, BUT NO MASKS! This is a favorite event at WJHS, so don’t miss out on spooky decorations, treats, music and dance!
8th grade boy’s basketball tryouts are again today at 2:30 P.M.
Monday, November 1:
Hunger Drive – Nonperishable items collected by 5th hour. After school the Students vs Staff Volleyball game (2 cans to get in free or $1 admission).
Tuesday, November 2:
Basketball game against Glenview at WJHS – 5 can goods will get you into the game free
