Over the summer break, three students from the Rock Island High School Entrepreneur and Enterprise class (INCubatoredu) won $7,500 at a National Pitch Competition for their mentoring program that focuses on closing the “opportunity gap.”
Team L.E.A.D. (Leading Everyday and Driving to success) are Rashawn Overton, Romar Cantu and Cornelius Aldridge. Last year in the Entrepreneur and Enterprise class, the three young men formed a plan and non-profit organization to teach leadership skills to African American students at the Rock Island Academy elementary school.
Team L.E.A.D. is in the process of forming their own non-profit. Eventually they will expand to our other elementary schools.
The competition was sponsored by INCubatoredu’s Uncharted Learning Foundation.
Team L.E.A.D. also won the Final Pitch Night Competition at Rock Island High School last May.
