RIHS Students Earn IMEA Honors

All State Musicians 2011
Six Rock Island High School students were named as All-State musicians by the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) this year: Kayla Jackson (Jr. -Flute), Alysha McElroy-Hodges (Jr. -Bb Clarinet), Ben McKay (Jr. -Trumpet), Jordan Turnbull (Jr. -Percussion), Mason Moss (Jr. -Jazz Band/Piano) and Alexa Penn (Sr. -Vocal Jazz/Soprano). The students will participate in the upcoming Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) All-State Conference, which will be held from January 25-28, 2012, at the Peoria Civic Center.
The Rock Island High School band program is directed by Pete Carlin and the choral program is directed by Scott Voigt.
