WHAT DOES TODAY MEAN?
Today is Wednesday and you do you know what that means? It means that all cars need to be out of the out of the student parking lot no later than 5:30 p.m. There is marching band rehearsal in the lot every Wednesday night.
Today is also recycling day. Staff, for the convenience of the EAC members picking up recycling, please remember to place your blue bins outside your door after 7th period.
BIG COOKIE THURSDAY
Cookies, cookies, COOKIES! That’s right- big cookie Thursday is back. Have your dollar ready and buy a delicious, humongous cookie after school, either in front of the auditorium or at five points.

9th GRADE ACADEMY NEWS:
Attention all 9th graders who participated in Rock Solid summer program and attended the event at Fireworks Pottery: please plan to meet Mrs. Allen in front of the book store on ground floor on Friday, Sept. 2 after school to pick up your pottery.
Attention all 9th graders: If you have not yet received your free freshman Rocky t-shirt, please stop by the Deans’ Complex before school starts to pick up a shirt. We only have sizes large, x-large and xx-large left.
Latinos Unidos will have their FIRST meeting this Thursday, September 1st in the school LIBRARY at 3:20 p.m.
There is a Key Club meeting this Thursday at 7:15am in Room 27. Key Club would like to thank the following seniors and staff members for agreeing to participate in the 2011 Mr. Rocky Pageant: Garry Albritton, Chris Brackney, Austin Chandler, Andrew Eacker, Garrett Harms, Charles Holliday, Shaquel Jalloh, Kyle Kerres, Denzel McCauley, Donte Nesbitt, Lucas Rusk, Brad Steger, Sean Wieland, Addison Williams, Mr. Duster, Mr. Kennelly, and Mr. Stone. The Mr. Rocky Pageant is Sunday, September 18th at 6pm in the auditorium.

Hey Rocky! Ever thought about a career in teaching? The first meeting for the Minority Teacher Incentive Program will be today right after school in room 310. Anyone interested in learning about the teaching profession are invited to attend – All are welcome!

Lights On For Learning After-School tutoring and homework help is available to all students Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Assistance in Math, English, Computer Concepts, Credit Recovery, and ELL is offered from 3:30-4:30. The library is available for students from 7:15-7:55a.m. on Monday – Friday, and 3:13-4:15p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Students that regularly attend LOFL will receive various prizes and field trip opportunities. Please see Mrs. Johnson in room 226 for additional information and applications.
Girls Swim practice will be at 3:35 p.m. today. Results for last night’s meet will be announced on Thursday.
All girls wanting to play soccer this year must attend a short informational meeting today right after school in room 211.
Congratulations to the girl’s cross country team who finished 2nd place at Lake Storey in Galesburg yesterday against all the Western Big 6 teams except Quincy. Leading the way for the Rocks was Celeste Arteaga who finished 2nd overall. Kirsten Tauke was 13th and Iradukunda Josephine was 14th. Finishing out the top 5 runners were Isabel Vallejo – 18th place and Chastity Gingry – 27th place. The girls compete this Saturday at the Galesburg Invitational.
