ALL STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Congratulations to the following students for their performance over the weekend in the All-State Music Festival in Peoria. Rock Island was represented very well with Kayla Jackson, Alysha McElroy-Hodges and Ben McKay performing in the All-State Band. Jordan Turnbull performed in the All-State Honors Band and Mason Moss performed with the All-State Jazz Band. Again Congratulations to all!
CLUBS
The African-American Heritage Club will meet on Tuesday, January 31st after school in Ms. Rice’s Room. Please remember to wear your t-shirts.
CONDITIONS
Attention students: the time is fast approaching for the Swirl dance. Remember, you cannot purchase tickets if you have any outstanding conditions. Pay ID conditions in room 4 and all other conditions in the main office.
CRAFT CLUB
Staff and students: Come to the library Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:15! Experienced knitters and other crafters come and share your skills, beginners come and learn! Get more information in the library!
YSB AND LOFL
YSB will meet Wednesday during 5th period in room 226. Passes will go out during 3rd and 4th periods.
Lights On For Learning offers after school tutorials in Math, English, Credit Recovery, ELL, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 and Computer Concepts on Tuesdays, and Latino Awareness on Thursday. Students attending regularly are eligible for exciting field trips and great prizes. Please see Mrs. Johnson in room 226 for an application and further information.
SPORTS
The Girls’ Bowling Team brought home a 14th place finish from the powerful 24 team at the Dixon Invitational on Saturday. The Rocks finished ahead of conference foes Galesburg, Moline and United Township. Jordan Sholl led the Rock Island scoring with a 195 six game average. Selicia Applegate also added a 179 three game average for the Rocks. The Rocks travel to Galesburg for the conference meet today. The Rocks along with Moline, Galesburg and United Township will be competing for the conference crown. This will be the first conference bowling championship since the Rocks last won in 1986. Good luck Rocky bowlers!
