Upcoming Important Dates
Senior pictures: Tuesday, May 10th at 8:30 a.m.
Cap and Gown pick up: Friday, May 13th (Cafeteria)
CLASS of 2011 – Graduation Procedures
Thursday, June 2 – Graduation Practice: Assemble in the Auditorium by 9:00 a.m. We should be completed by 11:00 a.m. Any extra tickets will be distributed after graduation practice. The senior picnic at Longview Park will follow the practice. We cannot start practice until all students have paid their fines and fees.
Sunday, June 5 – Graduation: Assemble in the Auditorium and be in assigned seats at 12:30 p.m. Attendance will be checked at 12:45 p.m. Procession to the Field House will begin at 1:15 p.m. and will follow the designated route.
THE GRADUATION CEREMONY BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AT 1:30 P.M.
Wearing of Caps & Gowns: Caps must be worn straight. Tassels should hang over the left eye. Students who are speaking or singing should wear their caps while doing so. Girls should wear the plain white collars that are furnished with the gown. Girls will wear a dress, or blouse and skirt under the gown. Boys will wear a shirt, tie and dress pants under the gown. No blue jeans will be allowed. Students may not wear sunglasses.
Ceremony Conduct: We feel this scarcely needs mentioning….Common sense dictates that Rock Island High School student’s good behavior will prevail at all times. Please remember, that for the parents and respective families, this is one of the most important events in their lives.
Graduation Practice: The class will assemble in the auditorium and take assigned seats. Junior marshals will lead graduates to the field house.
Tickets: Each senior will initially be issued 15 graduation tickets. Please take only the number you need. After all graduates have received their tickets, additional tickets may be available upon written parental request. Additional ticket allotment will not exceed ten.
Miscellaneous: Ladies should bring bobby pins to keep hat in place; also, extra safety pins to attach collars. Men should wear dress shoes.
Freshman Ring Information
Freshman class meeting: Thursday, March 3rd at 10 a.m. (Auditorium)
Freshman ring order night: Wednesday, March 9th from 4:30 to 6:30 (Entrance by deans’ complex)
Freshman ring order day: Thursday, March 10th 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Cafeteria)
