PACERS PROGRAM
Junior PACERS: Turn in your Augustana College visit permission forms by Thursday, September 30th. Also, there will be no PACERS meetings on Thursday, September 30th.
DAR AWARD
SENIORS: If you are a senior, that does not have Consumer Economics or Federal Government this semester, you are invited to stop in the Counseling Office to vote for the D.A.R. Good Citizen Award. Please stop in and ask for a ballot if you wish to vote.
LOFL FREE TUTORING
Boys To Men & Wings To Fly will meet today at the beginning of 5th period to discuss a possible meeting time change. Boys To Men should report to room 121 and Wings To Fly should report to room 118. Please be on time. Passes will be sent out during 4th period.
YSB will meet today in room 226 at 11:00. Passes will be sent out during 4th period. There will be great topics to discuss. Pizza and Pop will be served.
COUNSELING INFO
Today, the following colleges will be in the counseling office: Ashford University at 8:47, and the University of Illinois – Springfield at 10:26. If you wish to visit with a representative, please stop in the counseling office for a pass.
Students – the counseling office will be closed over break. If you are in need of transcripts, please be sure to see your counselor by Thursday the 30th.
HOMECOMING NEWS
Would the following students please stop in the bookstore to get their tickets: Anabel Alva, Nikko Watson, Mackenzie Heriford Tracy Rade,Chasson Randle, Brittany Tunnell and Brianna Watson.
Practice for the Homecoming Court will be at 9:45 on Thursday instead of during 3rd hour.
The Homecoming fun continues today with Class color day. Thursday will be RED/GOLD Day
Freshmen: Class of 2014 needs to be represented at the homecoming parade! Please stop by Room 302 to sign up to walk in the parade.
Sign up now for the Homecoming T-shirt “Black Light Affair”. To order your t-shirt for $10.00, see Mr. Gustafson (in room 132) or Mrs. Thompson (in the girls’ gym).
Attention all Rocks: If you still need to purchase your homecoming tickets and have some unused pride cards left, see Mrs. Williams in the Dean’s office for a special deal on tickets. 5 pride cards will get you $1 off your ticket.
Students, you have only 2 days left to purchase your homecoming tickets. The ticket price is $12 each. You must present your current school i.d. to purchase tickets and for admission to the homecoming dance. If you are bringing a guest from another area school, they must present a photo i.d. (either school or driver’s license) too. For guests who do not have a photo. i.d., you can pick up a student information form at the bookstore to give to your date’s school. All forms must be received by Thursday, September 30th. If the form is not returned your guest cannot be admitted to the dance. No tickets will be sold after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 30th. Picture packet information and envelopes, for those definitely purchasing pictures, are available at the bookstore.
Hey Juniors: The tug of war shirts are in! Please pick them up in room 204, after school.
CLUBS
Science Club: Please get your permission slip from Mr Kirgan or Mrs. Nowinski for the fieldtrip to Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo in October. The bus is filling up fast!
Upward Bound will not meet on Thursday, September 30th.
There will be no academic team practice after school on Thursday because of homecoming events.
Lettermen’s Club will meet at 9:00 A.M. on Friday to start decorating for the dance. For more information, please see Mrs. Thompson.
COLLEGE/CAREER FAIR
Save the date. On Tuesday, October 12th, there will be a College /Career Fair at Rock Island High School’s fieldhouse from 4-9. Some lucky students will win an IPOD or a college scholarship for 500 dollars. Lots of other prizes will be given out during the event. SPORTS
Coach Hoover will be opening the small gym for open gym sessions tonight from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
There will be a girls’ soccer meeting today after school in room 211.
Boys Basketball!
Open Gym for tonight has been cancelled. Open gym will start again after break.
