Today will be a beautiful day of 78 degrees and why not enjoy this great weather by attending the “Preview Night†by the RIHS Marching Band? The competition show, “La Mirage – A Sahara Facadeâ€, will be preformed for the first time on the new field in the Rocks Stadium at 7:30. Don’t Miss this exciting event…IT’S FREE! Dinner meal deals will be sold in the concession stands. Hope to see you there!

Spanish Club members are reminded to meet at Mrs. Shirk’s house on Thursday, September 18th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. to work on the float.
Are you 18? Are you registered to vote? If not, then stop by on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 outside of the Dean’s Complex and register to vote. All you need is two forms of ID. Your school ID and Driver’s License will work. Exercise your right to Vote! We hope to see you there!Â
The African-American Heritage Club!Freshman float builders should meet in Mr. Campbell’s room (314) after school on Thursday to discuss final plans for the float.
The Boys’ Golf Team lost to Galesburg yesterday at Soangetaha Country Club. Brinn Bell was low score for the Rocks with a 3 over par 40. The Rocks are now 4 and 4 in dual matches. The J V also lost their match and are now 6 and 3 in dual matches. Zach Burkhead was low score for the J V squad. The Rocks play next in the Pekin Invitational Saturday.
Do you like zoos, museums, and cool experiments? If so, you should join the science club! The science club will have its first annual meeting and ice cream social tomorrow, after school, just outside of the cafeteria. We will also be trying new experiments with Mentos and Diet Pepsi. Please see a science teacher for sign-up information and details. You must pay your dues and sign up by Thursday at noon to attend the first meeting.
There will be a meeting of the Girls’ Bowling Team at Town & Country Lanes after school, TODAY, at 1:45
Seniors who have an interest in Sports Management can come hear a presentation from two members of the River Bandits’ front office staff. This will be TODAY, during advisory, in the Little Theater. To attend this presentation, please get a pass from your advisory teacher to go to the Little Theater at the start of advisory.
We are looking for a few good students to serve as Student Members on the Rock Island/Milan School District #41 Board of Education. These representatives serve as a liaison between the Board and the student body. Students wishing to be candidates for the position should stop by the Main Office, and pick up a petition. All forms are due to the main office by Friday, September 19. See Mr. Veasey, the Assistant Principal, for questions.
As the quarter winds down, you still have time to improve your grades. Come to Lights ON For Learning Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 4:30. Teachers are available in room 300 and room 302.Â
Students who signed up to sell homecoming buttons during advisory TODAY: You are field tripped out – please come to Room 122 for instructions after checking in with your advisory teacher.
The group picture for Homecoming will be Friday @ 8:00 a.m. Meet in the dean’s complex and please wear appropriate clothing.

Picture retake day will be next, Wednesday, September 24 from 7:45 to 2:00 on the stage in the auditorium
Anyone interested in joining the SOUP group needs to meet in room 4 right after school on Thursday.
Homecoming tickets are on sale at the bookstore, but you must have a current ID to purchase them. Tickets will be sold this week for $8, the following week the cost rises to $10 until the last two days Thursday and Friday the 25th and 26th the cost will raise to $12. No junior high students are allowed to attend. All guests must have a ticket and a valid picture ID to be allowed in to the dance. Also, there will be no refunds on tickets.Â
Class Rings are in and will be distributed on Thursday, September 18th between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the circle drive lobby.Â
