Good Things Happening at Ridgewood…

As you may remember, we wrote a Lights on for Learning State of Illinois grant this fall. The grant would have given us funds to provide many after school programs for the next 3 years.  With the budget constraints at the State and Federal level, we did NOT receive the grant. However, our staff has worked to create some of the opportunities we wrote into the grant.  You may have notice these opportunities in our Ridgewood Family monthly calendar.  For students in grades 4-6 we have added an after school Girls’  & Boys’ Book Club, during the lunch hour we have added Cocoa Café Reading and an art class for 5/6 grade students. Augi Students are also providing after school tutoring one day each week. As you can imagine, each of these are well attended by our students, showing us they... 


PTA’s new fundraiser… Vendor Fair

The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s (IMSA) Rock Island Region Field Office

The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s (IMSA) Rock Island Region Field Office will host a Community STEM Festival for families throughout the Quad Cities Area on Tuesday January 24th from 5pm-7pm at the Rock Island Center for Math and Science Elementary School 2101 16th Ave.  The festival will consist of hands-on demonstrations for the entire family in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics presented by local professionals, educators, students, and experts from community-based organizations.  Participants will make ecological crafts with theQuadCitiesBotanicalCenter, ride an energy bike with Lights for Learning, engineer wind turbine blades with the Advanced Technology Environment andEngineeringCenter and take part in many more activities.  This event is...

PTA Box Top Winners!

Thank you for sending in your General Mills Big G Box Tops during our recent contest! We collected 3,623 Box Tops!  Each Box Top brings in 10 cents, earning us $362.00. ISAT TESTING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER…

Students in grades 3-6 will be taking our State ofIllinois ISATtesting in reading and math.  Grade 4 students will also take a science test. Testing will be completed from February 27th through March 9th.  PLEASE make sure your children get enough sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast, and attend school. Thank you for sending us your pop-top tabs!

As you know we have been collection pop-tabs for the children of St. Jude Children’s CancerResearchHospital.  Recently, in an effort to encourage everyone’s participation, Jacob Johnson and Jacy Betzel  proposed and organized a Class Contest for our St. Jude’s Hospital Pop Tab collection.  Starting on February 1st and ending in May, classes filling up classroom containers will receive special treats.
