Brick Path Dedication, Sept. 12
The public is invited to attend the dedication of the new LION’S PRIDE Brick Path at Longfellow Liberal Arts School (4198 7th Avenue 309-793-5975), Rock Island, on Thursday, September 12th at 5:30 p.m. School staff, students, families, friends and Augustana College partners will also be in attendance for the occasion. The dedication is celebrating the “Adopt-a-School” Partnership with Augustana College, and is also in memory of Dr. Michael P. Nolan who was a professor at Augustana College and instrumental in the partnership at the school. The partnership was initiated by Dr. Nolan and Ken Johnson in 2001 to support student learning through volunteers and tutors, and since then has grown to encompass many facets of student learning and achievement at the school. NewsRock Island Mayor Visits ELL Class
Mayor Pauley and Longfellow class! Sue Molina-Padro’s class of 3rd and 4th graders at Longfellow Liberal Arts read a unit in their Avenues books about a young man who changed his community. And that change came by starting a petition to get a park in his neighborhood. The boy in the story had to meet with the mayor and other officials and the communities request was granted. Ms. Molina-Padro’s students started asking about the mayor of Rock Island and so they invited him to come and visit…and he did! They had a great time and felt special that Mayor Pauley had time to come and visit with the class. Read More →
Longfellow Students Help on Make a Difference Day
Longfellow students after hard work in the garden. Students at Longfellow Liberal Arts spent Make A Difference Day on Oct. 26 sprucing up the school grounds and preparing for the winter season by clearing out the garden outside of the building.
