Caddie Woodlawn Chapter 6 and 7

Describe the consequences of Caddie falling through the ice.  Discuss with your literature circle a time when you had an accident that resulted in consequences.  Choose one to describe on the blog.  Also, individually describe a time that you challanged an authority figure (parent, grandparent, teacher, etc.) and what were the consequences, turn into Mrs. Cobb.

What is an aristocrat?  What was Caddie’s father’s stand on the Civil War?  Did Caddie agree?  How do you know?  How do you know?  From what you know did the Civil War make all Americans equal?  Give support for your answer.

First, what is a Circuit Rider?  Once you find out what a Circuit Rider is, tell me why this could be a problem for Caddie?  Individually on a piece of notebook paper, tell me a time you have disappointed your parents.  Have you ever disappointed your parents in front of company?  Turn in to Mrs. Cobb.

In the desert Stanley worries about his family and how they’d feel if he died.  What impact does a child’s death have on a family?  What about Zero, what impact would his death have?  How do you know?

We have talked about perseverance as a theme in Hole. 

What is soemthing the Warden says or does in these chapters that shows she has perseverance?

To understand a character’s role in a story, it helps to look at that person from several angles.

When you’re asked to describe or analyze a character, think SADDR, which stands for four ways of looking at a character: Speech, Action, Description, Drawing, and Reaction of others. )

Trout Walker says, “No one ever says ‘No’ to Charles Walker!” This tells you he usually gets his way, and that he wants to scare Kate into doing what he wants.

Choose something that Sam Walker says. What does it tell you about what he is like?
