Frances Willard Students Create Self Portrait Tile Project

The students at Frances Willard Elementary had the outstanding opportunity to work with local artist Sally Gierke on a self-portrait mural. The opportunity was made possible through financial support from the Isabel Bloom “Arts in Education” grant and the Miner Family Grant.

Each child at Frances Willard painted a self portrait on a 4″x4″ ceramic tile. The tiles were then fired and assembled to create two large murals outside the cafeteria entrance. The project would not have been possible without the help of local businesses Susie’s Ceramic Nook and Black Tie Contractors. Thank you to everyone who helped support this project!
