Gary Payton visits Frances Willard!Former Frances Willard student and Rocky graduate Gary Payton will return to Rock Island to visit Frances Willard during it’s 75th birthday celebration. Gary Payton is a retired astronaut who has spent 73 hours in outer space. Mr. Payton last visited schools after his shuttle mission in 1985. Mr. Payton will address the entire student body during an hour long assembly at 10:00 on Monday, November 21. In the afternoon he will visit classrooms and share his experiences. Book Shack Receives Award
Congratulations to 4th grade teacher, Jan Carpenter, for the $500 award giving to the Frances Willard Book Shack program. The Rock Island Foundation selected Ms. Carpenter’s grant application to receive $500 for the continued dedication to student learning.
