Rocks take 1st in Regional

Rock Island Wrestlers placed first in Saturday’s Regional. The Rocks dominated the field with 11 wrestlers reaching the finals.

Placing first: BJ McGhee, Ignace Hakizimana, Kyle Carstens, Denzel Gay, Kyle Kerres, and Charlie Arteaga. Placing Second: Darius Henderson, David Price, Thomas Welte, Lucas Rusk, and Larry Harris. Placing Third: Tyler Dehaven. Congratulations Rocks! 

The twelve wrestlers advance to the Sectional tournament in Rochelle starting Friday.  The top three in each weight class will be granted births in to the State meet in Champaign. 

The Rocks also qualified as a team for sectionals which will be held in La Salle Peru.  The Rocks will face nationally ranked Crystal Lake Central on March 1st.  GOOD LUCK WRESTLERS!!!!

Rocks win tournament!

Congratulations to the Rocks Wrestling Team!  Over the weekend they traveled to Urbana and won a 13 team tournament. 

The Rocks scored a tournament record 306.5 points.  BJ Mcghee, Ignace Hakizimana, Kyle Carstens, Darius Henderson, Denzel Gay, and Lucas Rusk all were 1st place winners.  Kyle Kerres, Thomase Welte, Charlie Arteaga, and Michael Cole were 2nd place winners.  David Price and Trae Nichols were 3rd place winners.  Outstanding wrestler, Tyler Dehaven was a 4th place.

Team places 1st at tournament

Congratulations to the Rocky Wrestling Team!  On Saturday, they placed 1st in an eleven team tournament at Sterling High School. 

The Rocks had two champions: BJ McGhee and Lucas Rusk.  Kyle Carstens, Darius Henderson, David Price, and Kyle Kerres all placed 2nd place.  Thomas Welte placed third place while Tyler Dehaven, Inyase Hakizimana, Denzel Gay, and Michael Cole all placed fourth place.  Good job wrestlers! 

The Rocks wrestle again Wednesday night against Rockridge and Davenport Central.  Good luck!

Volleyball wins again!

Congratulations to the Washington Junior High School 7th grade volleyball team and their successful wins against John Deere-winning all three games! Beast serving from Jade Rodriguez with 11 serves in a row with 4 being ACES!  Great hits from Kaniyah Price and great sets from Bri Hart. Congratulations again to the entire 7th grade Volleyball team on their fantastic plays against John Deere! 

Also congrats to 8th Grade for their win last night against John Deere…8th Warriors are undefeated!
