Rock Island High School offers a summer basketball camp for girls entering 4th through 12th grades in the fall of 2012.
All camps feature both individualized and group instruction under the watchful eye of Rocky Head Coach Thad Hoover and his staff. Fundamentals of ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, and offense are emphasized. These are the same fundamentals that are taught each day to the high school players each season!
Camp is geared towards players who hope to play on their junior high or high school team as well as younger girls who want to get involved with the Future Lady Rocks program or another youth league.
Each camper will receive a camp basketball and will learn drills to practice at home, on the playground, and in the gym. Most importantly, camp is meant to be a fun and competitive atmosphere that will get the girls in the Rock Island School district excited about basketball and the future of the Lady Rocks basketball program.
Campers need to arrive ready to play at the starting time listed for their camp. Tennis shoes, socks, shorts, proper under garments and a t-shirt are required daily dress. Water fountains are available, but many campers prefer to bring water or gatorade.
FACILITIES: The Lady Rocks camp will be held in the Lady Rocks Gymnasium located at Rock Island HIgh School.
The 4th – 6th grade session will be held the week prior to the junior high and high school camps. The elementary basketball camp is right before the elementary volleyball camp. We hope to make it easier for parents to get their children to the school one week rather than two. Players should bring a drink and small snack to have in between camps if they choose to do both…
