You will want to do this to use some apps on your iPad in conjunction with your computer (i.e. Splashtop Remote Desktop)

1. Be sure your computer is plugged into the network (not using wireless). Go to your system preferences on your computer and click on Sharing. Place a checkmark in the Internet Sharing box and in the drop down menu that says "Share your connection from" it should say Wi-Fi. Close system preferences.

2. On your computer in the task bar where you connect to the wireless network, make sure the wi-fi is turned on and then click on the wi-fi icon and select Create Network. When the new window comes up, add a password and click on Create Network.

3. On your iPad go to settings, Wi-Fi and select the network you just created on your computer.
