It is our goal in the Rock Island School District to create high achieving world citizens and make certain that every one of our students is prepared for life.
With a population of almost 40,000, Rock Islanders pride themselves on a strong sense of community. Rock Island neighborhoods have created a warm, welcoming place for people to make their home. The city parks are perfect for a picnic, or cool off on the waterslide at Whitewater Junction. Rock Island is home to 26 parks with more than 848 acres of green space and beautiful gardens as well as three separate library branches. Rock Island is located in northwestern Illinois on the bluffs of the Mississippi River.
Together with Moline in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side of the river, Rock Island is part of the Quad-Cities. Rock Island has a population of 40,461.
The Rock Island School District has an enrollment of 6,400 students. These students are divided into 9 elementary schools, 2 junior high schools, 1 high school and 1 alternative high school.
Rock Island also boasts a vibrant downtown area where you can see a live performance, shop the galleries or dine at one of many excellent restaurants. Summer brings on a series of outdoor festivals that feature everything from Cajun, to reggae to Irish dancers.
